The combination of two acoustic principles allows us to present to you today "the Filante 42 Tubular". Indeed, our development of the "Tubular" principle (see models Filante 17 "Diapason d'or" and Filante 21) is now augmented by an additional channel; this innovation is due to the fact that a second full-range speaker reproduces the lowest frequencies in complete autonomy in a symmetrical load.
In addition, we maintain an excellent efficiency of 93 dB and a stable impedance of 8 ohms; this allows the use of a quality stereo amplifier even of very low power (8 real watts per channel on a 300B mono triode tube amp). Bi-wiring becomes possible and makes sense by powering the two modules separately, like bi-amplification with two integrated stereo amps, or two to four mono blocks for sound "extremists" in very large volumes. This new system will offer you an open soundstage that few standard acoustic systems can offer, with a sound often too confined within the "box," to the detriment of the famous ideal "sound image" in height and width that is so difficult to achieve, not to mention a good sound base with a fast, taut, and naturally balanced bass for all types of music. Finally, a comment from the founder of Pier Audio: This new acoustic concept combines the speed and natural liveliness of two full-range drivers in two separate parts with simple, adapted, and uncomplicated filtering; in order to achieve uncompromising transparency depending on the quality of the source used, while benefiting from a structured sound, endowed with beautiful and nourishing sonic substance. . It's big, like the sound, for a very concert-like, spontaneous, lively, unique rendering. Listening: In short, a 1.5-way speaker paired with a subwoofer. One can well imagine the research and development required to fine-tune everything, both acoustically and electrically. The subwoofer offers a linear response starting at 35 Hz with a cutoff at 80 Hz in 12 dB/octave. The head's crossover operates at 120 Hz and 4500 Hz for the tweeter, with the full-range being partially compensated by the crossover. The overall bandwidth extends from 35 to 22,000 Hz with an efficiency of 93 dB. Since bi-amplification is possible, one can imagine the benefits audiophiles will derive from it. And they would be wrong to deprive themselves of it, given the dazzling potential of this speaker. Whether it's a question of proportions, for once, it's not inappropriate to speak of a grand sound generating a grandiose soundscape, developing in width, in depth, but also in height. A little disconcerting at first, but ultimately more in keeping with the spirit of live performance. Overall, the reproduction shines with its refinement and conciseness, with a degree of finesse that leads one to appreciate each recording in its own unique texture. |
